This Privacy Policy explains how OurHangoutSpace.com ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use our Service. By using OurHangoutSpace.com, you agree to this Policy. It is incorporated into and part of our Terms of Service. This is an adults-only (18+) service.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information you provide directly:
- Account information: username, email address, and a hashed (encrypted) password.
- Profile information you choose to add (display name, bio, avatar, profile media, links, preferences).
- Content you post publicly or privately: posts, comments, messages, room chat, uploaded media, and cam broadcasts.
- Payment-related information when you donate or purchase, processed by our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers).
- Communications you send us, such as support requests or reports.
- If you claim a Donor email mailbox, the local-part you request and the resulting address.
B. Information collected automatically:
- IP addresses – used for security, spam prevention, rate limiting, and abuse detection.
- Basic usage and device data (such as pages viewed and features used) to operate and improve the Service.
- One essential session cookie (see Section 4).
We do not collect precise geolocation, advertising identifiers, or device fingerprints, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- To operate accounts, the Donor program, the token economy, and (where offered) Donor email mailboxes.
- To prevent spam, fraud, harassment, and other prohibited conduct, and to enforce our Terms.
- To respond to your support requests and communicate important notices.
- To comply with legal obligations (such as lawful subpoenas or court orders).
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
3. Information Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in limited circumstances:
- With your consent – when you ask us to share something or post Content publicly.
- Service providers – vendors who help operate the Service under confidentiality obligations: for example, our payment processor (PayPal) for donations/purchases, and our web-hosting/email provider, whose systems store and deliver mail for any Donor email mailbox you claim. These providers process such data on our behalf or under their own policies for the relevant transaction.
- Legal compliance & safety – when required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request, or to investigate fraud, protect users' safety, or address violations including child-safety matters, which we may report to the appropriate authorities.
- Business transfer – if the Service is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
4. Cookies
We use a single essential session cookie to keep you logged in as you navigate. It is temporary and expires when you close your browser (or after a period of inactivity). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or persistent cross-site trackers.
5. Donor Email Mailboxes – Special Notice
If you claim a personal email mailbox at our domain as a Donor perk, please understand how it is handled. The mailbox itself is created and hosted on our web/email hosting provider's mail servers, not within the website's own database. The website records only the address you claimed and its status (requested/active) so we can manage the perk. The contents of your mailbox (messages you send and receive) reside with the mail host and are subject to that host's security and policies as well as this Policy. We do not routinely read your mailbox contents, but we may access, preserve, or disclose them where necessary to operate the Service, investigate abuse or security incidents, or comply with law. We are not an email-archival service: we do not guarantee delivery, backup, or recovery, and mail may be permanently deleted if your membership lapses or your account or mailbox is closed. Keep your own copies of anything important, and use a strong, unique password.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
- Account data is retained while your account is active.
- When you delete your account, we remove your profile, posts, comments, messages, and associated metadata within a reasonable timeframe (usually within 30 days).
- Security logs and IP records may be retained for a limited additional period (up to 90 days, or longer if needed for an active investigation or legal hold) and then deleted.
- Content shared or quoted by others may persist after your account deletion, with attribution to your username removed where feasible.
- Any Donor mailbox and its stored mail may be permanently deleted when your membership lapses or your account closes.
7. Children's Privacy (18+ Service)
OurHangoutSpace.com is intended only for adults 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account and delete the associated data. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us immediately at webmaster@ourhangoutspace.com.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California, Virginia, Colorado, and similar state laws), you may have rights to:
- Access – request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Deletion – request permanent deletion of your account and data (you can also do this yourself).
- Correction – request correction of inaccurate information.
- Opt-out of "sale" – we do not sell your data, so no action is needed.
To exercise these rights, contact webmaster@ourhangoutspace.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by law (generally 30–45 days). We may need to verify your identity first.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including hashed passwords, restricted server access, transport encryption where applicable, and routine security maintenance. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify affected users and authorities as required by law in the event of a data breach affecting personal information.
10. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States and is governed by U.S. law. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information will be processed and stored in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
11. Third-Party Links & Services
The Service may link to or integrate with third-party sites and services (for example, PayPal, embedded YouTube media, or hosting/email systems). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before using them.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date will change, and for material changes we will provide a prominent notice on the Service or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
